The university currently counts over 34,000 students \u2013 about 4,000 of those being international students – and 6,200 members of staff, including 300 professors. Over 1,000 third-party funded projects bear witness to TUD’s strong focus on research, including a range of collaborative projects such as 8 (transregional) Collaborative Research Centers, a Cluster of Excellence, several Research Training Groups of the German Research Foundation and Horizon 2020 research consortia, including ITNs, as well as 9 ERC grants.<\/p>

The Department of Biochemical and Chemical Engineering is the largest of its kind among all German universities and one of the largest in Europe. As an interdisciplinary centre, the department includes all major scientific areas that are relevant for chemical and biochemical production processes, from scientific fundamentals to process and plant design, and operation.
